3 families will have Habitat houses in 2017!

Three deserving families will have Habitat homes built for them in 2017. This is made possible through the generous financial support of the Boone County community and the willingness of a whole cadre of volunteers.

The first home, the Faith Build, is nearly completed in Lebanon for Will and his children.

From Will, "I’ve been divorced since January of 2015. I have full physical and legal custody of Oliver and Amelia (4yrs, November 26). I have been a single father since the divorce with no help from their mother, but thankfully my family has stepped up in unbelievable ways to help me with Oliver and Amelia. I had to move in with my mother after the divorce, because I just couldn’t afford a rent payment of $700+ for a place with enough bedrooms to be comfortable. Various people in my family have been involved with Habitat throughout the years, and that’s why I decided to try and see what would happen. I’m very thankful that I took that first step, because there’s no better feeling than knowing that my kids and I are about to have our own home that is completely affordable for me. It’s been a real struggle for years… May all the glory be to God, because without Him, I know that none of this would even be possible. It is because of God that I’m able to say that I have an amazing job with Harsco M&M, I am almost debt free, and I am about to own my very first home through Habitat. Aunt Kim is surely smiling down on us from Heaven."

The next  home, a former Women Build, will be finished and made ready for Samantha and her family.

Sam say's " I am lucky to be the mother to an amazing 4 year old boy named Trey. Without the help of my mother, I would never be where I am today. She has taught me how to love and how to be loved in return. She has taught me to work hard for my family, and because of that, I have been at my current work position for 8 years. As a family, we absolutely love to spend weekends camping by a fire and playing in the water; whether it be by the lake or by a pool. My son loves to ride dirt bikes, and it fills my heart with joy to watch him ride his dirt bike. Being involved with Habitat has been life changing. It has shown me how important it is to have a safe place for my family and how hard work and prayers do work. I am proud to be able to give my son a safe home. I am so grateful to Habitat and for this wonderful blessing."

The final build of the 2017 season will be our 4rd annual Women Build.  This home will be for Julie and her son.

Julie says "I am a single mother and the sole provider for my 16-year-old son, whom I also homeschool. My two older daughters are married but visit us whenever they are able. I moved to the Midwest and specifically Boone County from Massachusetts about 20 years ago. My landlord has given notice of his intent to sell the house we are living in and the house we have occupied for the past 8 years. So, we are very excited about the opportunity to own a Habitat house, to have a home that we can call our own, a home where we can enjoy being a family together. It represents a new beginning for us, and we are very grateful to the Women Build and all those that will be working on our house and helping to turn something that I never thought possible into a reality for us."
